
Job Summary
As Lead, this position provides guidance and expertise on university-wide CMS infrastructure services. Represent the university in campus-wide and system-wide committees including the CMS Technical Users Group. Lead the team to plan, install, support, and maintain the major administrative computer applications for the University, particularly as they pertain to CMS (PeopleSoft) Administrative system support and data protection (backup/recovery/disaster recovery). Provide technical guidance and support for Telecommunications information database and related applications. Provide database administrator (DBA) services for university-wide systems database software and servers.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide ongoing support for the campus CMS (PeopleSoft) environment.
- Serve as database administrator (DBA) for the campus Oracle database environments.
- Oversee group management of enterprise backup solution.
- Serve as lead for the Systems and Operations Services Group.
- Communicate clearly and effectively, with technical and non-technical individuals within a culturally diverse campus environment. Maintain a professional demeanor.
- Maintain IT professional standards of anonymity for data that resides on campus servers and computer systems.
- Maintain confidentiality of all information. Attend and participate in departmental and team meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet the needs and objectives of the department and/or division.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
The ideal candidate possesses expert-level technical knowledge and the ability to quickly analyze, diagnose, and resolve complex system issues. They demonstrate a strong capacity to adapt and maintain high technical proficiency in a constantly evolving environment. With deep expertise in Oracle DBMS installation, configuration, and patching, as well as operating systems, server administration, and virtualization technologies, they are well-equipped to manage strategic systems development projects. Their analytical and organizational skills enable them to prioritize and coordinate large-scale initiatives effectively, while their communication and interpersonal abilities allow them to clearly convey complex technical concepts and influence stakeholders on system design and development decisions.

Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree related to computing or equivalent and five years of progressively responsible experience in Database Administration (DBA) role.
• Experience with advanced SQL programming.
• Experience with both Windows and Red Hat Linux Enterprise Servers.
• Experience developing programs and scripts using Powershell, Visual Basic, and Bash Shell.
• Three years’ experience maintaining Oracle database software.

- Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $8,231 - $11,990 per month.
Time Base
1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.
Duration of Appointment
This is a regular position.
