Job Summary

This position evaluates student records from other institutions primarily to determine applicability of transfer course work.

Furthermore, this position provides services that are equitable, inclusive, and culturally sensitive to enhance the quality of campus life.  This position uses a student-centered and equity-minded approach in all communication and service efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluation of Student Academic Records - Review file to verify all documents have been received by utilizing PeopleSoft and imaging software. Verify accreditation of post-secondary institutions previously attended. Review course credit system, grading policies, and scholastic standing on transcript. Determine transferability of courses not taken at CSULB utilizing PeopleSoft, imaging software, and other articulation tools.
  • Interpret and Provide Information - Advise students, college counselors, CSULB academic departments, and other sections of Enrollment Services on transfer evaluation, policies/procedures, and degree requirements. Communicate via telephone and/or email regarding the evaluation of students' transfer course work.
  • Maintenance of Resource Materials - Organize and keep current reference materials, including policies and procedures. Create and maintain resources for use in evaluating transferability and GE requirements.

The ideal candidate demonstrates the ability to work independently, effectively collaborates with students, faculty, and staff, and applies academic and administrative policies with sound judgment. They possess strong knowledge of online student information systems and consistently deliver respectful, empathetic, and professional customer service aligned with the university’s mission and values. They maintain clear documentation of responsibilities to support operational continuity and ensure data integrity by following approved processes and testing procedures.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.  Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.  Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Education and Experience

Equivalent to one year of experience related to academic records evaluation required.

Physical Summary

  • Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $4,262 - $4,500 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $4,262 - $5,998 per month.

1.0  time-base, 40 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment

This is a temporary position for 1 year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
